VEET Scheme Rebate – Lighting Upgrade

What is the VEU/VEET/VEEC Scheme?

Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) is a Victorian Government initiative with the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging the efficient use of electricity and gas by energy consumers. VEET stands for Victorian Energy Efficiency Target. This fantastic Victorian Government initiative is designed to make energy efficiency improvements more affordable for businesses. The VEEC is the Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates generated through the reduction in energy use.

How does it work?

Participants that are accredited under the program, otherwise known as ‘Accredited Persons’ can offer discounts on selected energy saving products that have also been accredited under the program. One VEEC is equivalent to one carbon tonne of carbon abated and a target of $6.5 million tonnes has been set for 2020.

What does this mean for you?

By choosing an accredited and licensed electrician to upgrade your lighting under the program you will receive a rebate for a large % of the upfront cost of the installation, depending on the going VEEC rate and the type of business and building you are in. This rate is quoted within your lighting proposal and is an immediate upfront discount on the price of the LED light upgrade.
